This HR session for principals focuses on effective hiring practices, candidate recommendations, and maintaining a consistent, compliant selection process. Principals will review hiring expectations, interview best practices, decision-making strategies, and HR procedures to support high-quality staffing decisions that strengthen school culture, improve retention, and support student success. Guidance for navigating and completing the entire hiring process, including effective use of the hiring platform and system tools, will also be provided.

Session 4: PAC Nuts and Bolts (Principals) and Safety Expectations from Arrival to Dismissal (Assistant Principals) for New Adminstrators

Audience members (New AP's) will become familiar with the daily safety and security expectations for every aspect of the school day.  The daily safety expectations assessment tool will be reviewed in detail.  Audience members will hear the do's and dont's for aspects of the day such as arrival, weapons detection screening, class transitions, hallway foot traffic, visitor screening, lunch, recess, and dismissal.  Other important initiatives to be covered are door locking, Rave panic button, Black Box, ID badges, and Say Something Anonymous Reporting.

Participants will learn the required policies and processes for adhering to Parent Advisory Council procedures

Session 5: Safety Response Protocol (New Principals and Assistant Principals)

Audience members will become familiar with the Standard Response Protocols (SRP) associated with Crisis Response in Johnston County Public Schools.  Attendees will learn when, how, and why to initiate the 5 Standard Response Protocols during a crisis incident, which are Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, and Shelter.  This interactive experience will involve attendees in decision making opportunities where they will need to think quickly to be able to facilitate the proper response.  Real world scenarios will allow this sessions to come to life.
